Application to Fix GPS Errors
Global positioning system (GPS) can be used to estimate the distance traveled by a person or object. However, there are biases and noise in the GPS data collected which result in the calculations being inaccurate. If the path traveled is a straight line, GPS tends to overestimate the distance traveled, while if the path traveled is zig-zagged, GPS underestimate the distance traveled. The present technology provides a method of removing these biases in order to improve the accuracy of the calculations in distance traveled.
