Apparatus to Achieve Portable, Long Duration, Deep Heating, RF Diathermy

Portable, low-power heating apparatus that induce warming of tissues to enhance blood flow

 Background:

Low body tissue temperatures prohibit normal tissue repair and regeneration. Local warming of the tissue enhances blood flow into the region, resulting in increased oxygen and nutrient delivery as well as increasing the rate of all metabolic processes.

 Technology Overview:

This technology comprises a "heating pad" operating on the principles of RF diathermy. The device operates at 915MHz and is sufficiently efficient to permit battery operation, and therefore portable use. The technology can be used as a stand-alone product or in combination with other therapeutic approaches (bandages, splints, negative pressure therapy, etc). The essence of the invention is the impedance matching technology developed to ensure efficient radiation from the antenna into the body despite the complex and differential impedance presented by the tissue-air interface existing at the surface of the body.
